Metabolism and Body Composition

A topic I get asked often is about metabolism and how to change body composition! I understand the frustration and discouragement when clothes don’t fit like they used to or there is extra belly fat, low energy and joint pain. It is not fun.  

Rather than dwelling on those thoughts, let’s focus on three essential factors that can kickstart your metabolism. While there are many more aspects you can manage, beginning with these is a solid foundation.

  1. Nutrition: What are you eating? Prioritize protein.

  2. Movement: How are you moving? Make sure to lift heavy weights.

  3. Stress: How are you managing it? Find ways to rest and relax.

I'll share the story of one of my newest clients. She used to lift weights, but with a demanding job and daily stress, her health goals got pushed aside.

After a month or so of lifting weights with me 2x a week, she was getting her suit tailored and was surprised to hear that inches were needed taken in from her waist, hips and backside! 

I KNOW she was stoked!

Remember, it's the small, consistent steps that make the difference, both physically and mentally. She didn’t see results after one week, or even one month—maybe it was two months. But that’s often when we give up and switch gears. Stick with it to see those habits pay off!

  • Yes, we will have a hard week, stressful week and emotionally eat ourselves silly.

  • Yes, we will go on vacation and feel like we’ve lost all our efforts.
